Objective

Defining in an operational and precise manner the needs to be addressed.

Description

A clear and precise definition of one's needs is the key in the Design Thinking methodology, since it provides realism and inspiration, as well as the objective that will guide the rest of the process. The formula to be followed is (Fernandez et al., 2020):

  • Description of the person + NEED + need + BECAUSE+ personal situation

Example:

  • A migrant woman living in the city's downtown area NEEDS to travel comfortably to the supermarket BECAUSE she wants to make effective use of her time to be able to carry out all her activities and have free time for herself.
